These events are run by the Cheviot Lions Club with all proceeds being used to fund community projects in the Cheviot area. All the organisers and marshalls on race day are volunteers.
Cheviot Lions Club was established in Dec 1968 and raises funds to support projects in the community, in particular supporting youth in the community. All race officials and helpers on the day are volunteers and the events could not be run with out the generous support we receive from our sponsors.
The Kaiwara Classic was started in 2003 and has grown to be a great success with record entries in the Feb 2012 event, an addition of the Epic in 2012 was also met with great support. In 2008 the Cheviot Hill Challenge was started and is taking shape to be a great success, set in the beautiful Cheviot Hills Reserve where the remains of the Cheviot Hills Mansion House can be found. In 2013 the Cheviot Hills challenge was run in two parts, in the morning was the Cheviot Hills Ride and in the afternoon was the Cheviot Hills Run in 2019 there will be 2 separate courses.
The members of the Cheviot Lions Club take great satisfaction from organising well run events, that contribute to worthy causes in the community and look forward to seeing you on the day.
